SnackTAXI (Perfect for lunch boxes!)

It has always been important to me to reduce waste; to reuse and recycle. It's how I was raised and it's what we teach our children.

Our oldest daughter is starting Kindergarten this Fall, and I keep thinking about how to make her lunches less wasteful. I can just imagine a landfill made up solely of ziplock baggies.  *cringe*

I've been looking for lunch and snack time re-usable’s for a couple of weeks now, and many of the options aren't marketed as BPA free (or free of any other toxins for that matter). That's an issue for us. A lot of containers seem to be bulky also, which is ok I suppose but not ideal. Before she even makes it to school, we have a summer packed of picnics with some day trips planned in so we need to find something that meets the criteria of the Non-Toxic Hammer's.

Well, I am pleased to say, I had the opportunity to review SnackTAXI brand re-usable sandwich size sack as well as their snack size sack and not just that, but also share a pair with one lucky reader. :]

I thought these were just a fantastic product through and through. The sewing on the sacks is perfection, the fabric is soft, not scratchy and it's lined with an easy-to-clean material. Speaking of the fabric, they come in a large variety of really adorable choices.

We got a peek and just a few really great options. How CUTE is the frog fabric?!

The SnackTAXI's are flexible and only as bulky as the product you store inside of it. Which means packing a lunch bag won't be like playing a game of Tetris.

I loaded up some carrot sticks

Closed the bag up and it laid as flat as I needed it to! Here I have it pouched up a bit to stand alone for a picture.

I don't have a picture of the sandwich bag in use (oops!) :( But it is the perfect size for sandwich bread. I also believe a hero roll (or hoagie bun, sub roll - where ya from? ;) ) cut in half and laid sideways would fit just fine.

Another really brilliant idea they have over at SnackTAXI - sewn on labels for your child with gluten or nut allergies. Adorable fabric, sewn on labeling, what else could make it better?

Well, their new ORGANIC COTTON line makes me very happy!

More reasons that SnackTAXI makes the Non-Toxic Hammers happy:
  • SnackTAXIs are machine washable (this makes Gia VERY happy)
  • The materials are free of lead, phthalates, and BPA (well into our criteria)
  • Each reusable bag we use can keep as many as 1,000 plastic bags out of the waste stream

Each SnackTAXI product comes with a tag that has the above information on it plus another interesting fact:

The US alone adds 20 million plastic baggies to landfills every single day.
Think about that. Really, really think about that. What can you do to reduce that number?

Would I buy this product? Absolutely! I'll be investing in some of their Organic cotton collection!
Would I recommend this product? For sure! I think it would also make a really great gift option.

I loved this product so much that I'm eager to share a pair with you! One lucky blog reader will win a Sandwich size snack and a Snack size sack as well. Here they are!
